Broken Hearts Map

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026 · Version: 2.0

This Privacy Policy explains how Broken Hearts Map (the “App”, “we”, or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects the User’s personal information. By creating an account or using the App, the User accepts the practices described in this Policy, which forms an integral part of the Terms of Service.

Operator / Data controller: a natural person domiciled in the Argentine Republic. Contact email: info@brokenheartsmap.com. Website: https://brokenheartsmap.com.

This Policy is governed by Argentine Law No. 25.326 on Personal Data Protection and its complementary regulations, without prejudice to other rules that may apply depending on the User’s location.

See also our Terms of Service.

1. Who may use the App

Broken Hearts Map is intended for people aged 18 (eighteen) or older. The App contains user-generated content about relationships and heartbreak, which may include emotionally sensitive topics, and features for contact between users. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that a minor is using the App, we will delete the account. If you believe a minor is using the App, contact us at info@brokenheartsmap.com.

If the app store in your country shows a different rating (for example IARC 12+ or 19+ in Korea), the Service is still intended only for people aged 18 or older, or the minimum age required by that store if higher. Accounts belonging to minors are deleted.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide to us

2.2 Information collected automatically

The Broken Hearts Map website (waitlist and marketing pages) may use Google Analytics 4 when enabled by the operator, to collect aggregated usage statistics. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

3. How we use your information

The legal basis for processing is your consent (given when you accept this Policy and the Terms), performance of the relationship involved in using the App, and our legitimate interest in operating and protecting the Service, under Law No. 25.326.

4. Content moderation and sensitive topics

Pins, Vent Board posts, and comments are sent to an automatic filter (which may include third-party artificial intelligence) when published. That filter may fail or be unavailable; in that case content may still be published.

1:1 chat messages are delivered immediately to the other person. They are analyzed automatically when a User reports them. You can also report content and block other Users.

Broken Hearts Map is not a crisis or mental health service. Some stories address self-harm or emotional distress. When such content is detected, the App may show support resources. If you are in danger, contact local emergency services or a helpline.

5. Advertising

We show ads through advertising mediation. Networks that may participate include:

These partners may use advertising identifiers and similar technologies to show and measure ads.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

7. Retention and deletion of data

We retain your personal data while your account is active.

You may delete your account at any time from the App (My Profile → Delete account). Account deletion removes your authentication record and dissociates your profile. Certain content may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form, or when retention is necessary for legal, security, or abuse-prevention reasons. You may also request deletion by writing to info@brokenheartsmap.com.

Deleting the account in the App does not by itself cancel an Apple or Google subscription. You must cancel it in the App Store or Google Play; otherwise the store may continue charging.

8. Your rights

As a data subject, you have the right to access, rectify, update, and erase your personal data, and to object to or request restriction of certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the tools in the App or contact us at info@brokenheartsmap.com.

Argentina: your personal data is protected by Law No. 25.326 on Personal Data Protection. The data subject may exercise the right of access free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is shown. The Agency for Access to Public Information (AAIP), as the Control Authority under Law No. 25.326, is empowered to handle complaints and claims relating to non-compliance with personal data protection rules. Your data may be stored and processed outside Argentina (for example, in the United States via Google Cloud).

9. Security

We use industry measures (encryption in transit, access controls, and Google Firebase platform security) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International transfers

The App uses cloud services that may store and process your information in the United States and other countries. By using the App, you consent to such transfers, which are carried out in accordance with Law No. 25.326 and its regulations on international data transfers.

11. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will publish the new version with an updated “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you within the App.
